While woolen coats are beautiful, they are hard to resist the traces of time and may be left with stains if you are not careful. However, if you send it to a dry cleaner for cleaning, it often takes several days to wait. For this reason, we have specially summarized several methods for you to easily clean woolen coats at home, so that you can radiate its original brilliance in a short time.

1. Soapy water cleaning method
Soak the woolen coat to be cleaned in soapy water, or choose to wash it with warm water. The soaking time is about half an hour, and then you can start scrubbing. Please note that you should treat the woolen coat gently during the scrubbing process and avoid excessive force. If you want to remove the alkaline residue of soapy water, you can add an appropriate amount of vinegar to soak it. After cleaning, soak the coat with an appropriate amount of vinegar, which will not only restore the softness of the woolen coat, but also increase its glossiness.

2. Wet towel wiping method
Before starting to clean, gently tap the woolen coat with a stick to make the dust fall off naturally. Next, prepare a lint-free towel and soak it in warm water. After that, lay the coat flat or hang it up, and wipe it several times with a wet towel to easily remove the stains. This method is suitable for cleaning coats with light dirt.

3. Steam cleaning method
Due to its unique fabric characteristics, woolen coats should not be washed frequently, but there is no need to worry about being difficult to clean. A simple method is to use steam ironing to clean. Steam itself has a cleaning effect and can effectively remove stains on the coat. After ironing, just wipe the coat gently with a cloth to restore its cleanliness and luster.

4. Will woolen coats shrink due to washing?
It is generally not recommended to wash woolen coats with water because the mixture of wool and chemical fibers tends to shrink when washed frequently. Although a mixture of 49% wool and 51% chemical fibers will not shrink significantly if it is not washed frequently, it is recommended to choose dry cleaning for safety reasons. Since woolen coats are stretched during the manufacturing process, they will expand and shrink when exposed to water. The higher the purity of wool, the stronger the felting performance, and the easier it is to shrink. If the wool content in the coat exceeds 60%, it is strongly recommended to choose dry cleaning, and it is not suitable to wash frequently, and it can be washed once every one or two years.

5. Cleaning and maintenance methods of woolen coats
Wool coats are usually not recommended to be washed in water, because washing may cause deformation and shrinkage. Dry cleaning is the best choice. If conditions do not allow, you can try the following method: lay the coat flat on the table, soak a thick towel with warm water at about 30℃, wring it out and lay it on the coat, and gently pat it with a thin stick to make the dirt adhere to the towel. Repeat this process until the stain is removed, and finally dry it. In addition, the storage and maintenance of woolen coats are also very important. The correct folding method and regular cleaning and maintenance will extend its service life.
