What is twill?

Along with satin and plain weave, twill is one of the three original weave types used in textiles. "Twill" doesn't refer to a certain type of fabric fiber, but to a specific type of weave that creates a diagonal pattern. In contrast, satin and plain weaves have straight grains.

The fabric has been woven in a twill pattern for thousands of years, making it difficult to pinpoint the exact origin of this fabric. However, the word "twill" is a modern variant of the Old English "twili", which is a half adoption of the Latin word "bilix". As such, twill is often associated with British culture, although the fabric has been woven in other cultures for much longer.

1. What is the difference between warp knitting and weft knitting of knitted fabrics?

Answer: Knitting can be divided into warp knitting and weft knitting

Warp knitting uses multiple yarns to form loops in sequence along the longitudinal (warp) direction of the fabric at the same time

Weft knitting uses one or more yarns to form loops in the transverse direction (weft) of a sector

Weft knitted fabrics can be formed with at least one yarn, but in order to improve production efficiency, multiple yarns are generally used for knitting; while warp knitted fabrics cannot be formed with one yarn, one yarn Only a ligament of one coil can be formed.

All weft knitted fabrics can be detached into threads in the reverse knitting direction, but warp knitted fabrics cannot.

There are two main categories of warp knitted fabrics:

One is Raschel fabric, which is mainly characterized by large flower shape, rough cloth surface and many holes, mainly used as decorative fabric;

The second is tricol fabric, which has a fine surface and few colors, but high output. It is mainly used for covering fabrics and printed fabrics. These fabrics are mostly used for chemical fiber filaments, otherwise the production efficiency is extremely low.
