Yarn, piece cloth or dope dyed fabric?
What is yarn-dyed fabric?
Yarn-dyed fabrics are dyed before being knitted or woven into fabrics. The raw yarn is dyed, knitted and finalized.
Why choose yarn-dyed fabric?
1. It can be used to make fabrics with multi-color patterns.
When you use yarn dye, you can create fabrics with multi-colored patterns. You can use stripes, checks or something more intricate like a jacquard pattern. For piece dyed fabrics, up to three different colors can be used per piece.
2. Make clothes more textured.
Fabrics made with dyed yarns have more "body" than piece-dyed fabrics. It tends to be slightly thicker and heavier.
Color matching of yarn-dyed fabrics
Suppliers can provide laboratory dipped samples. However, if the dyed yarn is woven into the spandex blend and after the fabric goes through the setting process, the color may vary slightly from the lab dipped sample.
Piece dyed cloth
What is piece dyed cloth?
Piece dyed cloth is made when raw yarn is dyed after knitting. The raw yarn is knitted, dyed and finalized.
Why choose piece dyed fabric?
1. It is the most widely used dyeing method.
Piece dyeing is the most common and cheapest method of dyeing fabrics.
2. Easy production planning.
Piece dyed fabrics have a standard lead time, unlike yarn dyed fabrics which usually take longer.
Piece dyed cloth color matching
Lab impregnation is done by dyeing a small piece of greige—a piece of knitted or woven fabric that has not been previously treated or dyed. Bulk dyed fabric colors are very similar to lab dipped colors.
solution dyed fabric
What is solution dyed fabric?
Solution dyed fabrics are sometimes called dope dyed fabrics or surface dyed fabrics.
Raw materials such as polyester chips are dyed before being made into yarn. So the yarn is made with a solid color.
Why choose solution dyed fabric?
1. It is the only fabric that can be used for plaster.
Some spun yarns can only be made from dope dyed fabrics. An example is the popular marl effect.
2. No fading.
Solution dyed fabrics are very resistant to washing and UV fading. It has better color fastness than yarn or piece dyed fabric.
3. More sustainable than other dyeing methods.
Solution dyed fabrics are also called anhydrous dyed fabrics. This is because solution dyeing uses far less water and produces far less carbon dioxide than other dyes.
More points to consider when choosing solution dyed fabrics
Dope dyed fabrics are a hot topic right now. But it's expensive, the colors are limited, and suppliers often require large minimum order quantities. This means that despite its many advantages, it is not yet the most popular choice for fabric dyeing.
Solution dyed fabric color matching
There is no lab dip option for solution dyed fabrics. Customers can view yarn samples to check the color.
Customers can often only choose from the available colors. Custom colors and specifications are only possible when ordering in large quantities. Suppliers may set higher minimum order quantities for custom solution-dyed fabrics
